SUMMER!

Hey everyone!  June has just flown by and it's been an exciting month!  We have three updates for you: 1 - Austin (of course), 2 - Max (he's having a blast) and 3 - New house!

1.  Mr. Austin has had a good few weeks!  He has definitely required additional time to fully get over this virus and we are happy to have been able to do that at home.  We are still dealing with a little bit of dehydration that occurs overnight, but with his high level of fluid intake first thing in the morning, he's able to bounce back pretty quickly!  We will continue to trouble shoot his overnight intake.  He's now on a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) called Dexcom G6.  This device is used by MANY diabetics and when we are able to figure out all the little quirks of it, it will be great!  Just to clarify, Austin is NOT diabetic, he is currently having episodes of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and for his safety, the Dexcom alerts us when he is low.  Speaking of the hypoglycemia, we met with Dr. Tridgell (Children's endocrinology) on June 15th. As usual, Austin is a bit perplexing at times and this is definitely one of those times.  She believes his hypoglycemia's root cause is the trickle down effects of some of his "back up" systems having low "storage".  So...we received exciting news a few days after the appointment!  Austin's prior approval for growth hormone was approved!  After a couple weeks of getting everything set up, his first 16 days of injections are scheduled to arrive this Friday.  We are nervous and excited at the same time!  His weight is still down from his virus in May, so we are hoping for the boost he needs!  There is no end or timeline for the growth hormone, but we do know he is approved for a year!

2.  Max oh Max is having the time of his life!  He's a witty, fun and sassy 4.5 year old!  He will have his last t-ball game tomorrow evening!  He has loved it and we have loved watching him!  He will start gymnastics and soccer in a couple weeks!  These activities are just what he needed!  In addition, we've been to the Minnesota Zoo, Minnesota Children's Museum, parks, ice cream and Grammy's!  Life is good!

3.   The new house is wrapping up!  We've been updated that carpet will be installed late this week or first thing next week.  They've asked us not to visit once the carpet is installed....hmmm...Brian's not so sure I'm going to follow the "rule"!  I'll be honest, I've had a hard time staying away!  When you grow up with my Dad, who built amazing buildings and is always remodeling your house, it's hard not to LOVE it!  We will have new home orientation on 7/13 and close on 7/20, just 2 and 3 weeks away!

We have a fun and exciting 3-4 weeks ahead of us!  At our house, we pray for transitions going as planned and being uneventful!  We hope everyone has a fun and safe July 4th weekend!  We are happy to celebrate with family, burgers and nice hot Minnesota weather!

Love to all!
Tara
