Keeping us on our toes!

Max oh Max!  He's doing fabulous!  We had a Max and Mommy morning today!  A stop at YoYo Donuts, the park and a haircut!  Great morning for both of us!  Just within the past couple weeks Max has decided he really does love Baby Austin!  His energy, sense of humor and personality are so much fun!  He still loves the park, airplanes and now he's added Gigantosaurus to his favorite Disney Jr. shows!  Hard to keep up on his favorites.  He's starting gymnastics tomorrow with Gavin and let's just say, we are all pretty pumped up! Then there is Austin...first we are going to go back a few days to last Friday!  Austin had an audiology/ENT appointment with Dr. Meyers (if you remember, he did not pass his screenings in the spring but we did not meet with the ear, nose and throat doctor to determine why he didn't pass).  Well, he didn't pass again, but this time we met with Dr. Meyers.  She has very little concern.  Austin has perfectly normal and healthy ear str

Green Beans!

Austin continues to do amazing things!  As planned, he had his last TPN infusion on Thursday overnight!  Apparently he thought it would be a little boring, so a trip to the urgent care for croup was completed.  He had some congestion last week and Friday evening it changed to the seal like bark cough.  By midnight I knew it was either take him in or NOBODY gets any sleep (well, maybe Max).  About an hour later, a dose of decadron and we were back home, tucked in bed and breathing much better! Labs were drawn yesterday and they are stable!  Dr. Kevan is very happy with them and reminded us today she would like one more week of labs (next Monday) and Austin will have his Broviac (IV access/port) removed by the end of the month!  Dr. Kreykes (surgeon) has been given the heads up!  As far as we know, this is a quick surgery and in/out in one day. The most exciting news of the day is GREEN BEANS!  Our feeding therapists (both Capernaum and Eastern Carver County Schools) had sugges

Learning to Celebrate Change!

For those of you who know me well, I'm a type A personality who loves to be the planner so I know exactly what is going on AND change is hard!  I have learned my best coping skill is to take time to digest it and lean on my husband who just gets me!  I will freak out and then back myself off the ledge!  Well, yesterday was a true test for me!  Through the jumping for joy and the tears of "oh my, is this really happening?", we have all survived and are still here today.  I have backed away from the ledge!  WE can do this (and right now)! Here is the exciting news!  I got a message yesterday around 11am that Austin's dietician at PHS would be recommending to Dr. Kevan that Austin's TPN be discontinued this week!  Yes, discontinued, not decreased, discontinued!  My first thought "no TPN, no nurses"!  My second thought was "Christmas, this kid just blew that goal out of the park!"  If you remember back to my post surgery update in April, the g
