Happy 1st Birthday Austin!

Happy, happy birthday to our sweet, cuddly, strong and recently stubborn little boy!  Austin is officially 1 year old today and working hard to sit up independently while continuing to work on transitioning to hands and knees because we all know the next step is crawling!  Yikes...gates on standby!  He now has 2 teeth with more on the way!  The ones that have popped through are cute little chicklets on the bottom!  He's chatting and not afraid to give us his opinion, often times cracking himself up!  He had a great day today and thanks everyone for their birthday wishes!

Now on to the "other" stuff!  Unfortunately, even though I have not posted, it doesn't mean things have been quiet.  Austin continues to struggle to gain weight and is still weighing about 8kg (just shy of 18lbs).  Not a huge concern.  To make a long story short, he's had very good stretches and then we hit a hurdle.  He has had a couple more episodes of vomiting that we've been able to treat from home with the use of pedialyte rather than be in the hospital for IV fluid.  The vomiting isn't the same as it was back in July (with the green beans), instead it's more like a one and done.  We don't know why?  He had a rough week last week and after an abdominal x-ray, a long conversation with Dr. Kevan and a trip to the pediatrician, we really have no answers.  Maybe the perfect storm...a virus? cutting teeth?  reflux?  all of the above at once?  The odd part was he started refusing his bottles.  Austin has always LOVED his bottles, so this has been heart wrenching!  The last couple days he has shown signs of interest in his bottles again, so we praying he continues in the right direction!

Max is doing fabulous and is rocking being almost 3 years old!  His latest is "the roar" from The Lion King and for those of you who have had the delight of hearing and seeing "the roar" know that Max means serious business!  Brian and I apologize in advance if you get "roared" at, please don't take offense!  Max continues to love the outdoors, learning new things and being a big brother!

School starts for me next week and I'm going to miss these two boys so much!  We've had a summer that has gone by in the blink of an eye!  We hope this finds everyone enjoying the last few days of August!

Hugs,
Tara and Brian
