Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there!  I get to spend the day relaxing with all my boys and I'm one lucky girl!

Max continues to grow and love life!  He has become more and more help with Austin!  He loves being outside and is definitely ready for some consistently nice weather so he can ride his bike, hit golf balls and drive his truck!

Austin was baptized on April 28th at Westwood Lutheran Church with just our immediate family.  It was a very special occasion and a memorable family gathering following at our house!  Austin is a blessed little boy!  So many answered prayers!

Austin also continues to surprise us all with his growth and development!  He is also very active and is not far off from sitting up independently.  He loves to play on the floor and in his excer-saucer!  Makes him feel like such a big boy! He is also enjoying the warmer weather and every opportunity to get outside!  Luckily, his nurses enjoy taking him on walks around the neighborhood! His story telling also keeps us very entertained!

Medically, Austin continues to keep us on our toes..in a good way!  Since his GI appointment in April, his enteral feeding rate is up to 28mL/hr.  He has also increased his oral intake to six 15mL bottles a day!  He loves them and has done very well with the increased volumes.  He has re-learned how to breathe throughout the bottle, rather than holding his breath.  His lipids were discontinued in April and his TPN cycle time has been decreased twice so far.  Rather than being on his TPN (IV nutrition) 18 hours each day, he's currently only on it 14 hours a day.  We are expecting this to drop to 12 hours a day very soon as he continues to gain weight at an acceptable pace!  Austin currently weighs 7.95kg (17lbs 8oz)!  He's a growing boy!

Yesterday, Austin went on his first road trip! We spent the day in Jackson, MN (a little over 2 hour drive) visiting Brian's family!  What a fun-filled day with everyone!  This was Great Grandma Joneses first time meeting Austin and Great Grandma Pike's second time (the first was when he was only a week old for just a few minutes)!  Very special moments in which we are so grateful to have these ladies in the boy's lives!  This was a confidence building day for Brian and I that we can venture out of the Twin Cities again!  We're slowly preparing for a couple overnight trips this summer!

Lastly, our family has decided to participate in the Walk for Amazing this year benefiting Children's Hospitals of Minnesota!  As you know Children's has and will continue to play a vital role in meeting Austin's medical and developmental needs!  Please consider joining our team or donating to our team page!  Our team name is Austin's Adventurers and the link to our page is https://secure.qgiv.com/event/account/777613/

And...that's a wrap!  I will try very hard to not let so much time pass between posts, then maybe they won't be so long!  A few more pictures of the crew!

Love always,
Brian and Tara
