A lot of July fun and a Baby J sigh of relief!

Wow...it's been awhile!

Our July started out with a long weekend trip to Chicago!  Although the trip didn't go exactly as planned due to the extreme heat, (105 heat index all 3 days) we made the best of it!  We visited the Lincoln Park Zoo on Friday and then found our way into downtown!  For Max we had the best view ever...one of the Chicago Firehouses!  He got to watch the "wee-u, wee-u's" whenever we were in the room!

On Saturday we took a walk to the Navy Pier.  It was very quiet and peaceful because nothing was open yet, but Max enjoyed the big boats and Lake Michigan.  In the afternoon, we found the Red Line that took us straight to Wrigley Field.  Due the heat, Max struggled to stay in our seats both days!  However, we did find a pretty awesome splash pad that saved the day!  Although the Twins didn't get any victories, we enjoyed the adventure!  Another ballpark for Max!  Wrigley Field...check!

Next up was the Independence Day celebrations!  We ventured to Canterbury Park to watch the horse races with Grammy and Papa Jones on July 3rd!

A little swimming (and a sparkler) with cousin Gavin on July 4th!  We didn't make it to the fireworks...maybe next year!

A little update on Baby J!  First and foremost, he's doing great, but is keeping us on our toes!  Since we now know everything is fine, I'm going to spare you the nitty gritty details!  Basically, last weeks ultrasound showed a small stomach (as in the organ, not the abdomen as a whole).  This could mean one of 2 things, he is being a little lazy boy and not practicing his drinking or a more major issue called a fistula.  Dr's weren't super concerned since all my (and his) measurements were spot on normal!  So, the result of this finding earned us weekly trips to perinatal for ultrasound with BPP (biophysical profile), AFI (amniotic fluid index) and NST (non-stress test).  Well, today he scored a perfect 8/8 and his stomach was about 1000% times bigger than last week (the math teacher had to throw in some stats and I'm not exaggerating)!  All other measures were normal as well!  And...that's the big sigh!

So, praying everything continues as planned, Baby J will make his arrival in the afternoon of 8/21/18!

We hope everyone is enjoying the summer!  Good health and love to all of you!

  3. Good to hear an update Tara. Baby J is not going to be that less noticed second child, is he?! What a relief that all is well. Max is adorable and I don’t know how even I could stay in the seats in that heat. My husband and our son and his son were at Wrigley on June 30th for the Cub vs Twins game and they were in shaded seats. My husband said the heat was really hard to handle. Go Cubby’s!
