Up, Up, Up the Rollercoaster We Go!

Max turned 18 months on April 29th!  He's doing fabulous!  He has 2 top upper molars coming in, is talking a lot (mostly in cute toddler language), enjoys going outside and has a new love for the slides at the park!  We had a busy weekend in Jackson, MN visiting Grandma Jones and celebrating Grandma Pike's 80th birthday!  Last night we took advantage of the beautiful evening at Target Field!  The Twins couldn't pull off the win for us, but we sure did have an enjoyable night!

Update on Baby Jones #2 - first of all we are in love with this little boy who already keeps us on our toes!  Today was our appointment with the pediatric cardiologist from Children's Hospital, Dr. David Gremmels.  After a brief discussion with our ultrasound tech, he pointed out all the NORMAL appearances of Baby J's heart including all 4 chambers, tricuspid and mitral valves and the heart walls.  So...long story short, Baby J does not have atrial ventricular canal defect as originally thought.  This is why you call in the experts, right?!

We will not see cardiology again until after the baby is born.  They will do a baseline echocardiogram before he leaves the hospital.  All babies are born with small "holes" around 1mm in size.  These holes close on their own once out of utero.  At this time there is no reason to believe Baby J will need surgery!

We met briefly with Dr. McNanley (our regular perinatologist) before leaving.  He reassured us Baby J is growing well and the only thing we will continue to monitor is growth.  We will have monthly ultrasounds to measure growth.  This is due to the slight increased risk for the placenta to become inefficient in babies with Down Syndrome.

At this time, we keep climbing to the top of the rollercoaster!  Brian and I are so blessed and appreciative to have all your thoughts and prayers!  Baby J just wanted to give you a little thumbs up!

Hugs,
Brian, Tara, Max and Baby J

  1. Love him (and you all) so much! Great news! As I tell Charlotte every morning (and she rolls her eyes) “it’s a great day to have a great day”!
